Heat Project

The OCC heat project began in January 2007 with the aim of making recommendations on how carbon emissions can be reduced from heating and cooling, across industrial, commercial and domestic sectors.

In January 2008 a Call for Evidence document was published jointly with BERR, Defra and CLG. The document presented the work the OCC had undertaken over the course of the project, whilst seeking further information from stakeholders on some of the issues highlighted during the project. Responses to the Call for Evidence will be used to formulate policy recommendations to decarbonise heat in the UK.

The document asks for views about the technologies available to us - which offer the most efficient and practical contribution to achieving our aim and in which specific scenarios? It seeks views on whether we need new incentives to stimulate the development of renewable heat; what form they might take; and which options provide the most cost-effective solutions.
